In the words of Eduardo C. Corral, in POETS RESPOND TO ATTACKS ON IMMIGRANTS:
“Dear Dreamers, when I feel hopeless or lost in this world, I think of your strength and courage. I see and hear you. I will continue to listen to your stories. I stand with you. Proudly.”
As someone who has been attempting to immigrate for the past two years, my heart breaks for you. The world is so heavy and we are so small. But hearts outgrow bodies. I’m sending you love, solidarity, and strength.
You matter. You matter not for what you have done or what you can do. You matter for the simple miracle of being here. You’re still alive. In this moment of inhumane atrocity, you’re still alive. That alone requires incredible courage. You are still alive despite what they’re trying to do to you, and that alone is a triumph. You’re still alive.
